"DaneFest" is One Word

With the transition of the web site to a new platform there have been many challenges getting the conversion just right. The old site was home-grown and we were able to customize it on the fly to make it do backflips or what ever we wanted. The problem was that all this work was being done by one person, Tammy. It was a lot of work for one person.

With the new site we can now open up editing of site content to more people. This is a good thing. In the interests of making the site more accessible there is much clean-up to be done. For example there are six or seven years of of content from DaneFest. Throughout these posting there is much inconsistency and broken links. The name of the even is not consistently posted. Sometimes it is one word. Some times it is two.

What we need is someone who can go through the site over time and edit articles and make sure the content is still viewable. The addition of Tag and a little formatting can go a long way. There are articles we written a decade ago. Are they still accurate?

If you are interested in helping out, you can contact me or Jamie. We need someone who has some spare time, is good with details and text, and willing to troll through the site with superpowers to be used for good, not evil.

Web Site Audit

Slap in the face

I was excited, when I heard, that there was a Dane Fest. I've been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks, so, on that Saturday I took my Dane Vinnie with me for a fun filled event in Keller. I was hoping to meet some other GD people and support the rescue at the same time. Mind you, I live in Allen, which is an over 100 mile roundtrip for me, but what the heck, it was for a good cause.
Much to my dismay, I got pulled over by someone when I got there and told, that only spayed/neutered animals can attend, because some of the NEUTERED males may have problems with my intact one (isn't it supposed to be the other way around???). I was baffled, hurt and angry. You put everything on that website to prepare you for the Dane Fest, except mentioning not to come, if your dog was intact.....THAT would have been very helpful.
If you are asking, why my dog isn't neutered, it's because I show him in conformation and obedience at AKC shows and they have to be intact for that. Should he ever finish champion, he may actually have something to contribute to the breed, but not until then. I am also getting him certified as a therapy dog because of his wonderful disposition.
Well, this is the last time I will support THIS Dane rescue. Obviously, you did just fine without my donations.......good luck to you.
