Hope

UPDATE! MARCH 19th! Pictures say it ALL! Just THREE months in a loving foster home, some great veterinary care and time; Look at Hope now! Sweet hope has come so far that her Foster mom has nicknamed her "Hurricane Hope" and her "puppy" is starting to show! Hope has just been deemed healthy enough to undergo a spay while while she continues on with her treatment. As Hope recovers she will be evaluated so we can start to find the perfect FURever home! A very special thank you to her Foster Mom and to all who have donated to help cover her medical bills!

I have heard HOPE defined as what we hold onto when there is nothing else. Seems suitable in the case of our sweet Hope. A local shelter called with a plea.. "Can GDRNT get her TODAY... to save her life?" The plea came not because the shelter was out of space but because this sweet girl need IMMEDIATE veterinary care that the shelter could not provide. Covered in demodex mange, raging secondary infections, endimic, and a skin fungus Hope clearly needed emergency care and GDRNT volunteers sprang into action.
Hope is case of abuse by neglect. What started as a very treatable case of demodex mange was allowed to fester and develop into life threatening secondary infections. Every movement was excruciating pain that caused the scabs and sores on her body to open, crack and bleed. Terrified and unsure of her rescuer she allowed herself to be taken to the vet for care. Once released into an experienced loving foster home she has started the healing process. In just over a week of treatment her tail has found some wag and her spirit is rising.
Hope still has a long journey ahead of her that will include tons of medication, medicated baths, and special handling to prevent new infections. Inspite of her condition this girl is a lover! She is such a sweet girl and wanting to PLAY! He life has been so full of pain and she has already started to let it go and be a Happy Girl!
Keep watch here to see her progress! To donate to her care click on the donate button and put "Hope" in the Notes section.
