New Foster Home Emergency/Sick Dane Procedures

EMERGENCY SITUATIONS: bloat, hit by car, severe injury, and other life threatening situation. Call emergency # 817-996-0924 and transport the dog to the nearest GDRNT vet or, if after hours, to the nearest emergency clinic. Have medical personnel STABLILIZE the dog until a GDRNT board member can authorize further treatment.

EXTREMELY SICK DOG: nonstop vomiting & diarrhea, green snot, high fever (104+), seizures, unconscious, stumbling, any other serious “cannot wait” situations. Call emergency # 817-996-0924.

FOR POSSIBLY SICK DOG, THINGS THAT CAN WAIT A DAY OR MORE, OTHER INFO: itchy dog, sneezing, coughing, not eating/drinking, slight diarrhea, vomiting once or twice, fleas/ticks, sores, hair loss, reporting medical status, etc.

If no one answers, please leave a message that includes: 1) Your name and phone number 2) Foster dog’s name 3) A brief description of the problem/emergency 4) What vet/clinic you are driving to if it is a life-threatening emergency.
