Changing Routines...

I've had Dozer now for just under a month, but already he knows where everyone is supposed to be and when they are supposed to be there.

Yesterday I threw my back out being silly. So, last night I decided to sleep on the couch propped up. Normally Dozer sleeps right next to my side of the bed on his quilt, but last night since I wasn't in bed, he would not go to sleep. The first hour he was pacing back and forth in the bedroom, so finally Jeff let him out of the room, closing the door behind him. Dozer then spent the next hour pacing between me and the bedroom.. butting the door open every time. Apparently I was supposed to be going to bed. I made him a bed by the couch and he finally settled there for about 30 minutes only whining every few minutes and then he was up pacing again. I got him to settle again for a short while when i opened the bedroom door.. and turned off all the lights.

Finally.. I gave in. Packed up the big pillows from the couch and moved myself back to my bed. Once there he stared at me as if to be sure I was going to stay. Then plopped himself down in the middle of the door so it couldn't be opened. After a few big sighs, he finally let himself go to sleep.

Am I just lucky.. or are all of your Danes so concerned with their routine and all of their people being in the right place at the right time?
None of my other dogs have ever been so worried about this kind of minor change in routine. I guess I'm flattered!
