Dirty Dawgz Self-Serve Dog Wash & Spa is hosting several low-cost microchipping clinics benefitting Great Dane Rescue of North Texas (meaning money raised from these events will go directly to GDRNT's vet bills!).
If you are not familiar with microchips, here is a little information...
The microchip is small - about the size of a grain of rice - and is inserted under the skin of your pet. The microchip is injected with a needle and it feels about the same as a vaccination. GDRNT only allows a veterinarian or a vet tech to administer the microchip - so even though the procedure is minimally invasive, you can be certain your pet is getting the best care possible.
Unlike tags, a microchip is permanent, so your contact information stays with your pet everywhere it goes* - and that could save your dog's life one day. If your pet ends up at an animal shelter, it will stay there for a certain period of time before it has to be put down. However, if your pet has a microchip, then the chances the shelter can find you are greatly increased.
So, load up your dogs and visit us at our next microchipping event! Dates/locations can be found at the bottom of this page, or under the Events section on the right-hand side of our homepage.
These events are staffed by GDRNT volunteers, so it's a great opportunity to meet some people who can answer your questions about rescue while ensuring that your pet is permanently linked to you!
*Please note - Your contact information is not put on the chip itself. The chip contains an identification number specific to your pet and that id number is linked to your contact information in a database managed by the microchip company. It's VERY IMPORTANT to remember to call the microchip company if you move or change phone numbers so your information stays current.
