The results are in and Guinness received 1081 votes. While not enough to win, this number is still very significant because it represents the number of Great Danes saved by this organization.
Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the generosity of donors, Great Dane Rescue of North Texas has changed the lives of over one thousand dogs that were tossed aside (and sometimes literally tossed on the side of the road). Guinness was one of those dogs and he will never take for granted the fact that he was given a second chance.

In his concession speech on DNN (Dane News Network) this evening, Guinness reminded us that while history was made with this election, for the 10,370 animals euthanized in June 2008 in DFW area shelters history had a terrible way of repeating itself. Unfortunately, until humans understand the importance of spaying/neutering and responsible pet guardianship, the deluge of unwanted pets will continue.
