“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” – Dan Lipinski

On Oct. 8, 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first Veterans Day Proclamation encouraging “widespread observance of this anniversary” and asking “all veterans, all veterans’ organizations, and the entire citizenry [to] join hands in the common purpose.” Today there are approximately 23.2 million military veterans in the United States. The brave men and women who serve and protect the U.S. come from all walks of life; they are parents, children and grandparents. They are friends, neighbors and coworkers, and an important part of their communities. Please take time to Thank them for their service. And because it never gets old take a hint from our furry friends on how much appreciation we owe our Veterans, but I suggest you find a different way than these dogs to show your appreciation!
