Some days before, a very tired, under nourished, sweet pregnant momma Dane came into rescue. She was given the name Gina. She was weak, frightened and expecting, yet she trusted the warmth of her foster home, care of our veterinarian, and love of her foster family. Gina would give birth to what would become known as the “Coffee Pups”. She proved herself a wonderful mom to what would be her last litter before starting her new life in her FURever home. Gina would be adopted into a home who loved and spoiled her as she deserved.

At the time our family was looking to add another Dane to our home, we applied and were approved for a puppy!!! We were all so excited! We had been following the story of the Coffee Pups on the website and could not wait for her to come! When Mocha was carried into our home for the adoption meeting it was clear she was there to stay! Even our old Dane mix loved her! Generally an adopted Dane is given their FURever name by their FURever family but my children already knew her as Mocha so her FUReer name remained Princess Mocha.

That was nine years ago and my baby girl has grown into ” mature and experienced” and has carried on the legacy of her sweet momma….. By serving as Foster mom to 22 GDRNT puppies. Mocha has helped us bottle feed, slept with me next to the “hospital” kennel and struggled with me while we figured out how to train deaf/blind puppies (which was not nearly as hard as feared). She has taught them how to ride in the car, use the dog door, the potty yard and how to sit for treats.

Together we have watched as 21 puppies have found loving FURever homes and in honor of her Momma Gina, other homeless, frightened, pregnant moms and puppies we will continue for what I hope is another 9 years.

So Happy Birthday to my Sweet Diva Dane… You will always be my puppy dog!
